we took some eager family members with us.

10. Tandem Jeunesse - It's official, I'm working with Lena Ellka
I'm happy to announce that this year I finally submitted my entry on time for the french Tandem Jeunesse children's book creation project, and I will be working with the talented author Lena Ellka!
Here is the beginning of La fleur des soeurs the story she wrote and which I will be illustrating:
"J’en ai assez ! Elles sont insupportables. Elles crient, elles tapent, elles courent, elles parlenttout le temps. Elles me cassent les oreilles, les pieds et mes jouets.
Mes sœurs et moi, on est fâchées.
Je me demande bien comment on peut être sœurs : on n’a rien en commun. Rien à partager,tout à se disputer !
Pour les oublier, je me réfugie sur le petit balcon de l’appartement. C’est ma cabane au grandair. Je guette les chats sur les toits. Mais il n’y en a pas, de chats sur les toits. Je guette lesoiseaux qui volent. Il y en a parfois, des oiseaux en ville..."

when the children took a look at their newly painted wall,

02.24.11 - Aranyvackor 2011 Hungarian Childrens Illustration Contest (Vol.1)
Today took place the award ceremony of the Hungarian Children's Illustration Contest (Aranyvackor) and I was lucky enough to win the second prize and the Csimota special award. I met some great people, and hopefully some of my books will be edited before the end of this year.
This post is dedicated to my work Dot Curve Line, the project with which I won the two awards but was not presented at the event.

02.18.11 - weekend trip
I'm off to a three day skiing trip with friends to Maribor, Slovenia. We will try to make this snowman out of real snow, let's hope there will be enough snow...Take care and have a great weekend!

Today I had a whole day to paint! I experimented on what a dot can become and came to the conclusion that depending on the color it can be a part of/become almost anything. Next projects: triangle, rectangle, square

02.17.11 - Fishing around
Having fun with indian ink and photoshop.
The Cobalt Blue Zebra originated in deep rocky waters of Lake Malawi in Africa.
A male Zebra Cichlid should be kept with several females. The Zebra is a mouth brooder and the spawning process is intriguing. The male will establish a territory and its colors will become enhanced when it is ready to breed. A female that is ready to spawn will then enter the territory and the two will interact aggressively. The female then releases a couple of eggs into a gravel pit. She then picks these up in her mouth. Meanwhile the male displays the “egg spots” on his anal fin. These spots are the same size and color as the real eggs. The female nips at these eggs spots and the male releases his sperm, which then reaches the females mouth and fertilizes the real eggs that she has previously picked up. The process is then repeated until the female has a brood of between 10 and 50 eggs in her mouth. After spawning, the female keeps the eggs in her mouth for about a week until they hatch. After that, the fry will seek safety by retreating into the female’s mouth for up to a month. During this period, the female rarely eats. Once the fry are able to fend for themselves, the female stops allowing them in her mouth. The entire process is quite stressful for the female, so a separate tank for her during this period is recommended.

01.31.11 - Budapest Fieldwork
The last time I visited Vienna with a friend we found Kati Smith's book "How to be an explorer of the world" in a museum shop. While looking through it we decided to complete and document all the exercises listed in the book. Together with Dancsi we created a new blog Budapest Fieldwork, which is dedicated to our research.

01.05.11 - Budapest is for everyone
A series of 15 pictures were made by each artist participating in the “Budapest mindenkié” (Budapest is for Everyone) group exposition which took place in the Erzsébetvárosi Community House. I showed a series of collages made from the mixture of photos and drawings. This fusion of techniques gave me the freedom to blend reality with imaginary elements.
